Aims & Objectives

The Life-Long Learning Special Interest Group (LLL-SIG) discussed the recent publication in the UK of a Quality Assurance Framework for Dental Workforce Development. This was developed, by the UK dental postgraduate deans and directors, to provide dental professionals with a series of statements to map their CPD educational activities against. The Framework could also be used as a quality measure of their CPD educational activities, by CPD providers. Such a mapping process could strengthen the value of such activities and provide proof of quality, reflection and even impact on practice. Following on from this, the LLL-SIG discussed a draft proposal for an ‘accreditation process for CPD activities’ which could promote wider recognition of the CPD gained for both individual dental professionals and CPD providers. An external organisation such as ADEE could provide such a service.
